Atlanta Business Community to Honor War Heroes and Raise Funds for Shepherd Center's SHARE Military Initiative

Patriots Dinner set for June 1 will honor wounded military service personnel.

Men and women who served the United States in wars from World War II to Afghanistan and were recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor will attend an event on June 1 where the Atlanta business community will honor them for their service and bravery.

Hosted by members of the Hospitality Business Network Foundation, the Patriots Dinner will be held 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Georgia Aquarium Oceans Ballroom. The event, called “An Evening of Honor,” will be a tribute to wounded warriors and Medal of Honor recipients. Veterans and Medal of Honor recipients from more than 10 states, including Georgia, will be in attendance for the black-tie reception and seated dinner.

The event is being hosted by FOX News Anchor Bret Baier. Distinguished guests will be Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and The Home Depot founder and philanthropist Bernie Marcus.

“The members of the Hospitality Business Network Foundation felt it was very important to honor the sacrifices and service of service men and women to our country,” said W.B. Baldwin, president and CEO of the Hospitality Business Network Foundation, Inc. “The Patriots Dinner is not only a way to celebrate and honor these veterans who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, but also is a way to give back to those returning from service.”

All proceeds from the Patriots Dinner will benefit two worthy military causes – Shepherd Center's SHARE Military Initiative and Navy Safe Harbor Foundation.

In 2008, Shepherd Center in Atlanta started SHARE to treat members of the military who sustained brain injury and/or PTSD in the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. SHARE provides comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation for its clients at no charge to them. The program depends on donations to continue to serve these patients.
