Shepherd Center Kicks Off Annual Fundraiser Pecans on Peachtree
Shepherd Center will kick off its annual fundraising event Pecans on Peachtree Nov. 9, 2009. Pecans on Peachtree, now in its 26th year, is instrumental in funding many patient-related programs at Atlanta-based Shepherd Center.
Shepherd Center, founded in 1975, is a private, not-for-profit rehabilitation hospital and one of the nation's leading facilities specializing in medical treatment, research and rehabilitation for people with spinal cord and brain injuries.
Shepherd Center is a 132-bed facility, including a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit. Last year Shepherd admitted 825 people to its inpatient programs and 522 people to its day patient programs. In addition, Shepherd sees more than 14,000 people annually on an outpatient basis.
Pecans on Peachtree, Shepherd Center Auxiliary’s annual holiday fundraiser, supports a patient aid fund, animal-assisted therapy, sports teams, housing and a resource library for patients and families.
Pecans on Peachtree offers an assortment of pecans and candies ranging from packages of roasted and salted pecans to towers of chocolate-covered and praline pecans in decorative tins, designed especially for holiday gift giving. These delicious sugared nuts and chocolate-covered pecans are great for corporate gifts, teacher gifts, a neighborhood gift exchange, as well as those last minute needs and even for you!
